Attention torn away from
the hot victory of the sun
distracted by shadows
that dance in dark caves
the slow drip of time
crashes with violence
against the surface of
the well of history
cadence of madness
a frenzied race into
all consuming blank space
that blinds and binds
the invisible magnetism
of addictive illusions
shrouding the coal black
soot of the inevitable unknown
